Education is one of the most powerful instruments for reducing poverty and inequality and lays a foundation for sustained economic growth. With this in mind, the Agritech Outreach Programme was launched in 2015 and has committed to improving the learning environment for the learners at Golden Valley Basic located adjacent to where we host the Agritech Expo Zambia.
The self-sufficient farming school takes care of 600+ pupils between the ages of 7 and 14 with 17 teachers.
Together with the assistance of numerous event sponsors, the Outreach Programme was able to complete the first phase of the project that aimed to improve the safety and aesthetics of the existing school buildings, this included replacing windows and doors, repairing rooves, paint the school building and repairs to various sections of the structures.
The second phase included an upgrade of ablution facilities, installation of electric wiring, redoing the football pitch and assisting with the 2016 harvest by supplying seeds, agro-chemicals and the mechanical planting of maize on the school farm.
At present we are working on completing the plumbing works that includes: installation of plumbing accessories, garden taps and GI pipes.
If you are interested in assisting with the much-needed improvements or making a donation of supplies to the school, please contact the Workshop Director & Outreach Programme Manager Zayeen Daniels on +27 21 700 3570, or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
A huge thank you to all the sponsors who have supported the positive development of the school.
