2018 AGRITECH EXPO: ANOTHER RESOUNDING SUCCESS

A big “THANK YOU”

We celebrated the 5th Agritech Expo and once again it was a success, adversity notwithstanding. The 2018 Expo was hosted against numerous developments that the country had experienced; tight monetary or liquidity crunch in the local economy, the crushing of farmer commodity prices, which in turn also affected agribusiness outlets and the lending community, and disease scare of, cholera outbreak and Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in Chisamba and Chibombo Districts of Zambia.

I am glad to state that in spite of all this, the Agritech Expo lived up to its billing and opened doors to thousands of visitors from near and far; international visitors, multinational and cooperating partners, local farmers and numerous corporate entities.

The 2018 Agritech Expo also attracted international and local exhibitors, commodity dealers and trade associations; underlining the fact that this Expo is the country’s premier business to business linkage platform and shall remain so for a long time. But this could not have been realised without the support of Government (line Ministries and various departments), who have remained our top policy driver.

Government’s presence in ensuring all protocols and biosecurity measures were in place not only in Chisamba and Chibombo Districts, but also the Agritech Expo site is a pointer to the undying support for this showpiece.

The presence once again of the Head of State; His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu at the Expo, restated Government’s resolve to backing the Expo, which offers realistic and tangible diversification solutions being spearheaded by this country.

I wish to convey my sincere and special gratitude to all our sponsors and partners that have continued to believe in the Agritech Expo as a conduit to lifting the thousands of farmers and their families out of poverty and bringing to our doorstep solutions that would ensure the country is food secure and becomes the agricultural hub of the region. Special thanks also go to our partners and event managers Spintelligent for their admirable professionalism and work ethic.

I wish to see you all again, and indeed those that would like to play a part to Zambia’s agricultural growth at the 2019 Agritech Expo, which promises more agrotechnology and innovation advancements, for the Agritech Expo unveils the future for our Agriculture.
